Welcome to Grant Elementary

Thank you for visiting my page.  My name is Virginia Valdivia-Ruiz and I have been a teacher at Grant for 7 years.  I started my teaching career 19 years ago and have worked with grades K, 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th.  I was Grant's Primary Promise Intervention Teacher for two years and developed my skills as a reading intervention teacher. 

This year I am proud to support our wonderful teachers as Grant's Instructional Coach.  In addition, I continue providing small group instruction and intervention for our K-6th grade students.  Our focus this year is small group instruction and structured literacy.  I am looking forward to helping our students on their reading journey.

Understanding iReady

This year our school is using iReady for Reading and Math diagnostics.  Diagnostics help teachers identify what students know in different subject domains in order to support student learning.  These diagnostics are given at the beginning, middle and end of the year.  Below you will find links that can help you as a parent become familiar with this diagnostic.
