GATE
Gifted & Talented Education (GATE)
The Gifted & Talented Education program at Grant is expanding rapidly. As a member of the Targeted Intervention Program (TIP,) we receive support in referral, assessment and identification of potentially gifted students.
Since the 2016-2017 school year, our numbers of identified GATE students have grown from 3 to 21. In the current year, we have referred a larger number of students for testing than in previous years: our program is growing. Students can be identified as gifted through a variety of means: the most common being cognitive testing conducted by a designated District psychologist. Potentially gifted students are also screened and tested using the OLSAT which is administered to all second graders each year.
